India - LOKA
Loka’s Centre for Life Long Learning in Bihar (North-India) consists of a school and an organic farm.
There are 85 children aged 4-14 (nursery- grade 7) studying at Loka. These children live in a remote village of small-scale farmers where 80% of the population lives below poverty level. Through Loka’s Centre the young generation is equipped to make their village thrive and become a space of beauty, peace, sustainability and innovation.
LOKA was founded in 2007 by Charlotte Leech and Sanat Kuma and is registered in India as Loka India (Sarvodaya) and is supported by the Dutch Foundation Loka NL (Stichting Loka).
Loka’s mission statement is to practice and explore new ways of learning for a happy, healthy, beautiful, just and sustainable world.
Teresa van Kesteren is the member of the van Kesteren Foundation responsible for this project.
