Uganda - Don Bosco Palabek Refugee Centre
The civil war in South Sudan has prompted unprecedented numbers of people to flee to Uganda and neighbouring countries to seek safety. It is estimated that over 900,000 refugees are being accommodated in camps in Imvepi and Palabek in north Uganda.
The van Kesteren Foundation is helping the Salesians of Don Bosco with the development of the Palabek Refugee Centre, in order to support the refugees from South Sudan and the host community in Palabek.
The Palabek Refugee Centre will include the following services to help the refugees and the local community:
